In the interview, Gregg said U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell has always been a student of history — and is now becoming part of it.

“For good or for ill, you will be unable to write the history of the Obama administration without writing partly a history of Mitch McConnell and his leadership of the U.S. Senate,” Gregg said, adding that he hopes such a history will be added to the McConnell-Chao Archives.

To mark the centennial of the state Capitol building in Frankfort, WFPL 89.3, a nonprofit public radio station, along with Kentucky Public Radio, highlighted some of Kentucky's top statesmen and influential political leaders who served the Commonwealth in Frankfort or Washington. Their list included U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.
