About
This conference will consider the philosophical, political and economic issues surrounding the Cold War conflict. Teachers will explore these issues through a discussion of primary philosophical and economic texts, political speeches and foreign policy documents.
While communism has been defeated as a viable political and economic doctrine, understanding the types of responses that were engendered in the West by the Cold War and the differing accounts of the political and economic good that each side offered holds important lessons for a conversation about liberty and responsibility.
Kentucky social studies teachers grades 5-12 are eligible to apply; limited to 15. Extensive pre-reading required.
