Shepherd earns Henry Clay Scholarship to intern in DC

(May 10, 2012) LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Evan Shepherd, of Hopkins County, will study transportation and labor issues this summer in U.S. Senator McConnell's Washington, DC, office.

Shepherd, a political science major and McConnell Scholar at the University of Louisville, has been awarded a 2012 Henry Clay Scholarship by the Kentucky Society of Washington. The award includes a $3,000 stipend for living expenses while Shepherd interns in Washington for six weeks this summer.

Shepherd will intern to U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell's office, working with transportation and labor issues.

"This should be a humbling and exciting experience, and I am honored to receive the scholarship," Shepherd said.
