Time for a civics pop quiz.

Do you know which constitutional amendment established the federal income tax? Which one enforced the direct election of senators by the people, instead of their election by the state legislature?

Good. Now grab three friends and register a team for our "Constitution Day Quiz Bowl."

University of Louisville students are eligible to participate. The event will be held Sept. 14, 4-5 p.m., in the McConnell Center (Ekstrom Library, second floor, west wing). Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

As part of our continuing mission to assist Kentucky citizens in developing a better understanding of the U.S. Constitution and American history, the McConnell Center is proud to sponsor the University of Louisville's celebration of Constitution Day.

"We are glad to be at the center of U of L's efforts to remind the American citizenry of our rich and essential constitutional heritage," said Dr. Gary Gregg, director of the McConnell Center.

Pocket-size U.S. Constitutions will be distributed, free of charge, to all participants.

Constitution Day

Cupcakes, beverages and U.S. Constitutions will be available free of charge from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, on the second floor of the Student Activities Center to celebrate the 39 men who signed the U.S. Constitution in 1787.

Request free pocket-size U.S. Constitutions

The McConnell Center distributes pocket-sized U.S. Constitution books to Kentuckians who plan to use them for educational purposes. Request up to 75 free copies for educational purposes.
