LOUISVILLE,
KY — A four-person panel of prominent free speech
scholars from the U.S. and Europe will consider the challenges presented
by the Internet and the possibilities and perils for democracy and open
government in a discussion entitled, "From Gutenberg to the Internet:
Free Speech in the Internet Era and Implications for Democracy." Free food will be available at the Sept. 14 noon event located in room 275
of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law (map).
Russell L. Weaver (Louis D. Brandeis School of Law), Ron Krotoszynski (University
of Alabama School of Law), Tobias Keber (Johannes Gutenberg
University) and John Knecthtle (Florida Coastal School of Law) will sit on the panel.
"Traditional understandings of free speech rights are hitting up against the technological revolution in ways that will change both law and practice for a long time to come," said Dr. Gary Gregg, director of The McConnell Center. "I hope this panel discussion sheds new light on these important developments."
