LOUISVILLE, KY – The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 earlier this year that a Christian student group that bars lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members and their allies could not receive official recognition and funding from a public law school.

Christian Legal Society v. MartinezThe case, Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, centered on the Christian Legal Society at the University of California Hastings College of Law and the group's refusal to grant membership to LGBT individuals and their advocates.

The McConnell Center welcomes a debate between Sam Marcossen, a professor of law at University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law, and Bruce Frohnen, a professor at Ohio Northern University College of Law, on the merits of the recent landmark decision.

The noon debate will be held Sept. 16 in room 275 of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law (map).
