Bradley J. Birzer, Ph.D.

Bradley Birzer, Ph.D. is the Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies and is a professor of history at Hillsdale College, located in Hillsdale, Michigan, where he teaches courses on The Civil War, the American West, and twentieth century Christian humanism. He previously served as a Visiting Professor of Conservative Thought at the University of Colorado-Boulder from 2014-15.

He is a Fellow of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and a board member of the Free Enterprise Institute and Center for Cultural Renewal. He holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, a M.A. from Utah State University, and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.

He is the author of many publications and books, including The Humane Republic: The Christian Humanism of Russell Kirk (forthcoming), American Cicero: The Life of Charles Carroll, and J.R.R. Tolkien's Sanctifying Myth, among others. He is also the co-founder of the online publication, The Imaginative Conservative.
