Greater Louisville Area LoDI Index
The LoDI Index for June 2013 is 54.
The greater Louisville LoDI index experienced a sharp decline in June compared to the preceding three months and also when compared to the May data for the past three years. While the index value of 54 indicates a healthy level of activity in the logistics and distribution sector, we will not know the real reason for the decline for a few months. It could be that we are seeing some short-term correction in the good data we saw in the preceding three months. The expiration of the payroll tax holiday and the sequestration might be beginning to have an impact on the greater Louisville area. The uncertainty surrounding the federal budget could also be restraining growth in this sector.
The LoDI Index, developed by the Logistics and Distribution Institute at the University of Louisville is an index that gauges the logistics and distribution activity in the greater Louisville area for the specified month. A value greater than 50 indicates a healthy level of logistics and distribution activity in the metropolitan Louisville areas. To receive monthly updates, contact danielle.weires@louisville.edu.
