Inspection of University Records by the Public
University records are subject to inspection by the public in accordance with the Kentucky Open Records Act (KRS 61.870-61.884). Persons seeking access to records covered under this statute must apply in writing to inspect them. You may use one of the forms available below, or you may write a separate letter and mail, fax, e-mail, or deliver it to the office of the director of the University Archives and Records Center, who serves as the official custodian of the records of the University of Louisville. The director will determine whether or not the records, or portions of them, are subject to inspection, and will respond to the requester within three business days of receiving the request.
For more information on the open records statute and its application in the commonwealth of Kentucky, we have provided additional sources of information on Open Records.
Researchers seeking information about the University Archives' research holdings should look at the Archives and Manuscript Collections area on the University Archives' home page, check the catalog, or submit queries through UARC's online Reference Question Form.
