Searching for UofL Theses or Dissertations
Paper Theses or Dissertations
Effective July 1, 2006, UofL's collection of paper UofL theses and dissertations will only be available for use within the libraries. These unique works -- like those in the reference, rare books and archival collections -- will be unavailable for circulation either by checkout or interlibrary loan. Students and faculty may still use these materials in the Libraries' reading rooms.
All UofL theses and dissertations are included in the Libraries’ online catalog, Minerva. While most of these works are stored in the Ekstrom Library’s Robotic Retrieval System (RRS), some titles are shelved in the Dwight Anderson Music Library and the Margaret M. Bridwell Art Library. The online catalog provides location information for each title. Additionally, microfiche copies of most UofL theses and dissertations are housed in the Ekstrom Library’s Microforms Collection, 2nd floor.
Online Theses or Dissertations
Since 2002 the University Libraries have been building a collection of color digital copies of theses and dissertations authored here at the University of Louisville. This collection is searchable through our UofL Electronic Theses and Dissertations database.
Over two thousand UofL titles written since 1996 are available full-text through ProQuest's online database "Digital Dissertations." This resource can be accessed through the Libraries' All Databases List. A handout for using this database is available at http://library.louisville.edu/research/help/handouts/digitalDissertation.pdf. Assistance is also available through the Libraries' reference departments.
