Article Databases v. Google

what

While Google offers interesting information, it doesn't work as well for finding scholarly resources as article databases do.

Article databases ...

  1. consist of published, reputable and stable sources.

  2. provide easy access to scholarly journals (which will impress your professor much more than random web pages).

Google ...

  1. includes webpages of 5th graders and scholars, quacks and reputable sources.

  2. takes longer once you factor in the time it takes to evaluate the reliability of each web site.

Google can be great for looking up sports scores, current news, job information, popular interests, and more; however, college-level research papers rarely benefit from citing web sites.
