Circulation Policies

You may renew your books online using My Library Account.

Call 852-6741 for assistance by phone.

Any UofL student, faculty or staff may ask for an item to be recalled for their use.

Speak with an art library staff member to request a recall.

No book will be recalled within 14 days after initial checkout.

Once recalled, books must be returned to avoid overdue blocks on library accounts.

When an Art Library item is 28 days overdue, a block is placed on the borrower’s library account. Library privileges are suspended until either the return of the book or the payment of replacement fees.

The replacement fee per book is $150, plus a $25 processing fee.

Fees may be reflected on the patron's account as two separate fees (i.e. a charge of $80 plus additional charge of $95, adding up to a total of $175 per lost or damaged book).

Patrons may not purchase a copy of the book as a replacement.

The following materials cannot be checked out:

  • Magazines and journals
  • Information and Artist File folders
  • Reference Books
  • Reserve Books
  • Theses and Dissertations
  • Rare Books
  • CD-ROMs
