Come hear about an innovative new initiative, Swapping Stories, a collaboration between commonGround and the Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) to help students reach across
the fence and develop new relationships. Students who participate will commit to pairing up for dinner and listening to one another’s story, whether it’s about a coming out experience or a personal story about a spiritual transformation. The focus is on actively listening and learning about someone with a different point of view, and breaking down stereotypes that keep us from connecting.

A panel of student leaders from both commonGround and BCM will talk about their recent experience swapping stories with one another and offer guidelines for making the most of the opportunity.  After hearing their stories, others will be invited to make a commitment to swapping their stories and will get instructions for scheduling a meal together and then reporting back to the group at a later meeting.

The event is part of the Muhammad Ali Institute's Peace & Justice Week celebration and also a part of its new SeeRedNow campaign.  The SeeRedNow campaign is a new initiative to get people talking to one another about social justice issues and then get them active.
