Marketing PINK

Is it possible to turn a drag show into a learning experience. Absolutely!

Professor Sarah Dailey didn't want to teach her Advanced Public Relations class from a book. Instead, she decided to have the class learn by doing. Head of the Office for LGBT Services, Brian Buford, was brought in as a guest speaker to introduce the class to their project: promote PINK.

With one goal in mind, the class divided into five groups acting as independent public relations firms and got to work. Promoting the show had to be done from the ground up. Using surveys and focus groups, the students began the largest research study in the history of Pink.

Using information gathered from this research, the students were able to create flyers, posters, news releases and this Web site to market the event.

Not bad for a group of undergrads, right?
