LGBT Services Announces New Position
The Office for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Services at the University of Louisville is proud to announce the establishment of an exciting, fulltime program coordinator position and is continuing the search to select and hire someone this summer.
The office is the first of its kind at a Kentucky university, opening three years ago to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community, one that welcomes people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions through support, educational resources, and advocacy. The office works in partnership with other diversity efforts on campus supporting the Vice Provost for Diversity and International Affairs. We offer:
• Support for LGBT members of the university and their allies, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors
• Consultation about LGBT issues
• Educational, social, and supportive programming
• Coordination for LGBT-related groups and clubs on campus
• Comfortable, accessible space for anyone interested in a place to talk, listen, or find support
The new program coordinator will work closely with the director on all aspects of running a full-service office, particularly developing and implementing programs and events, supervising student employees, advising student organizations, developing new initiatives, and overseeing technology, budgets, and other logistics.
The office is fast-paced and requires a high-energy, enthusiastic individual who can work flexible hours and manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision. The minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience, and the successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience working with LGBT populations, preferably in higher education. We will be looking for someone with a passion for diversity and a love for young people, as well as someone who has a vision for what can be done and the organizational skills to make that vision a reality. This is an exempt, professional/administrative position with a minimum starting salary of $29,024.
Apply here between June 26 and July 3: www.louisville.edu/jobs. The job ID number is 26993 and is listed on the website as a program coordinator reporting to the Provost’s Office.
If you previously applied for the position, your application is still active and it’s not necessary to apply again.
The University of Louisville is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Employer, committed to diversity and in that spirit, seeks applications from a broad variety of candidates. The university offers a competitive, LGBT-inclusive benefits package that includes tuition remission.
