LGBT Scholarship Deadlines Announced for 2011
Two scholarship programs designed to honor student efforts in the LGBT community have announced deadlines for 2011.
The Ken Terrill Memorial Award is the University of Louisville's only LGBT-focused scholarship program, and is managed by the College of Arts & Sciences. It honors the memory of professor Ken Terrill, who started reaching out to LGBT students in the early 1980s and launched the group that is now known as commonGround. Terrill's family established the award after his death to pay tribute to his pioneering efforts.
Louisville's chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) also gives a scholarship each year to LGBT students who are working on their campuses and in their communities. It is named for Bruce and Margaret Lincoln, longtime PFLAG supporters and community activists.
The deadline for the Ken Terrill Memorial Award is March 22, while the PFLAG scholarship applications are due February 29.
