Kate Clinton Headlines Pride Week 2010
Comic and political observer Kate Clinton, who describes herself as a "a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer," will be the keynote speaker for the University of Louisville's Pride Week celebration this year. Sponsored by the Office for LGBT Services and several student organizations, Pride Week is an annual celebration to honor the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Clinton will perform on September 23 at 7 pm in Comstock Hall, School of Music. The event is free for students, and community members can attend for a minimum $5 donation to support LGBT student organizations at U of L at the door.
Clinton's performance, "Lady Ha Ha Does Louisville" is the centerpiece for Pride Week this year and will be an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community to come together to celebrate. This year, Pride Week includes a special focus on the contributions of women in the gay rights movement over the years. Clinton has been a key figure in the movement for many years.

An after party is planned following her performance at The Monkey Wrench. It will be an opportunity for community members to meet Clinton and celebrate.
Other highlights of the week include a cookout, wrap up dance, and interfaith service.
