Programs and Services at HSC

eQuality at the University of Louisville: The University of Louisville School of Medicine will be the pilot implementation site for newly released LGBT health competencies for medical schools. This exciting project is made possible through an innovative partnership between the LGBT Center, Undergraduate Medical Education Office, and Health Sciences Center Office for Diversity and Inclusion. Learn more about eQuality at UofL here.

LGBT Health Certificate: Earn a certificate by attending at least four of our highly popular lunchtime programs offered throughout the school year. Students, staff and faculty can attend these sessions and earn a certificate. Find a list of upcoming sessions here.

Safe Zone I and II Trainings: The Safe Zone Training Program of the LGBT Center provides education on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community that contributes to a safe and welcoming experience for all members of the university as well as LGBT-specific health issues relevant to academic medicine, practice and research. Safe Zone training includes a panel of people from the LGBT community, Q&A session and an overview of emerging LGBT health issues for researchers and health care providers. We hold two of each training per year. For information about upcoming trainings contact

HSC Pride: Student group for students who identify as LGBT or as allies. (Allies are truly welcome! Please join in!) To learn about upcoming meetings email

Educational Support: We provide free panels, presentations and tailored educational sessions to all departments and schools on the HSC on LGBT health-related issues. For example, we have presented to Emergency Medicine residents about transgender health needs, to Dental School staff a lunch-and-learn about LGBT health concerns, and classroom presentations for Nursing Master's students in Women’s Health.
