Making Transfer as Easy as 1-2-3

UofL works tirelessly on ensuring that all students who transfer from another institution, whether 2-year or 4-year, have a seamless experience. We continue to support that process with a newly-added ULtra office and staff support on the Belknap campus.

Transferring thousands of courses per year, UofL’s transfer staff work tirelessly to make sure students bring their academic credits with them. Often as difficult as translating two disparate languages, UofL reviews over 66,000 courses each year from transfer students - of those 91% are transferred.

We will not compromise our academic standards by not attaining equivalency. Doing so would force us to abandon our mandate as set out in HB1-to become a premier metropolitan research university.

The Facts

  • 33% of all transfers come from out of state institutions, bringing 66,000 different courses from thousands of institutions
  • 91% of the 66,000 courses reviewed last year, transferred
  • Some of the transfer students are changing majors and directions and the remaining 9% didn’t transfer because they were pre-college or vocational courses
