Alternative Spring Break- Use your Spring Break to help better the lives of others! ASB 2009

America Reads- The University of Louisville has joined the America Reads Challenge through its Federal Work Study Program and Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership and Service. Financial Aid provides FWS funds to pay UofL students to tutor in the local America Reads Program, administered through this office. Students are paid $8.00 and are raised to $8.50 per hour after one successful semester of tutoring. This means that tutors earn their money faster, thus not having to work as many hours. If students do not qualify for federal work study money, they are encouraged to Volunteer in the America Reads Program. Volunteer your time at a local school or community center now!

Bonner Leader- The Bonner Leader Program is a service-learning leadership program that places student teams at local non-profit organizations addressing social justice, educational, poverty, environmental, and cultural/arts issues present in the Louisville community.  In addition to direct service experiences, training, enrichment, reflection, and co-education with community partners are an integral aspect of the program.  With a term agreement, get paid to do service at completion of the term.

Bonner Frazier Museum Leadership Interns -  This program in cooperation with the Bonner Leader program addresses the topics of  social justice and cultural diversity.  The Frazier International History Museum serves as the location focus of the program and through its exhibitions and programs supports the goals of the initiative.  The museum is currently developing exhibitions that allow reflection and comment through interactive and online applications.  Leadership Interns are museum volunteers and aid the museum with museum events, developing online exhibitions, while serving as ambassadors for the museum.

Global Leaders Program - The Global Leaders Program (GLP) is a two-day workshop for thirty of UofL’s most dynamic, energetic and visionary undergraduate students.  Preference is given to students who are not US citizens.
