Professor Levinson discusses employee rights related to concealed weapons

Brandeis School of Law Professor Ariana Levinson spoke to Wave 3 News last week about laws regarding when guns are allowed at businesses. She said there has been a "dramatic change" about this issue in the last 10 to 15 years and that employees should err on the side of caution.

Generally speaking, for example, you can be fired if you bring a gun to work.

"The employer has the right to terminate you for any reason, like they don't like your laugh or what you're wearing that day,” Levinson said. "If you're employed at-will, it's probably best not to bring your firearms to work."

She said employees should always review the risk and, when in doubt, ask an attorney.
