HRAP signs onto amicus brief related to detention of noncitizens

The Brandeis Human Rights Advocacy Program has signed onto an amicus brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in a case focusing on the rights of noncitizens held in prolonged detention.

The Court granted cert to review Jennings v. Rodriguez, 804 F.3d 1060 (9th Cir. 2015). The key issue in the case is whether noncitizens in prolonged detention of six months are entitled to individual bond hearings to determine if they are a flight risk or a danger to the community.

According to HRAP's mission statement, the program "works actively with other non-profits and stakeholders in the community to advance the human rights of immigrants, refugees and noncitizens."
