Brandeis School of Law wins Kentucky Mock Trial Competition

The Brandeis School of Law’s Mock Trial team of Ryan Russell and Brad Schmidt won the 2015 Kentucky Intrastate Mock Trial Competition over the Nov. 14 weekend at Northern Kentucky University's Chase Law School.

This is the second year in a row that Brandeis’ Mock Trial team has won the intrastate title.

Additionally, Brandeis’ team of Aida Almasalkhi and Ryan Nafziger made it to the semifinals during the competition.

The teams were provided with support from Brandeis students Peter Lovett, Jasmine Chenault, Elizabeth Hobson and Trenton Burns, who served as trial witnesses during the competition.

Co-coaches included Chris Schaefer, of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, Lindsey Howard, of Goldberg Simpson, and Billy Merrifield, of Hebel and Hornung.

"The Brandeis School of Law congratulates our students for winning the Kentucky Intrastate Trial Competition for the second year in a row. We thank their coaches and the team members for their hard work and dedication. This victory further validates that UL is preparing its students extremely well for the practice of law. The skills our students are learning in and out of the classroom will enable them to effectively serve their clients," said Dean Susan Duncan. "They are winning in the competitions now and will win in the courtrooms soon."
