Brandeis professors part of $750,000 social justice research project

Two Brandeis Law professors are involved in a project that will receive up to $250,000 per year for up to three years from the University of Louisville.

The Cooperative Consortium for Transdisciplinary Social Justice Research will promote transdisciplinary research to complement current projects and will provide a social justice hub to bring faculty, students and the community together on issues of social and racial justice.

Professor Enid Trucios-Haynes is a co-principal investigator for the consortium, and Professor Cedric Merlin Powell is a member of its Lead Partner Working Group.

Along with her co-principal investigator, Arts & Sciences Professor Cate Fosl, Trucios-Haynes will submit annual reports on the program, which will be used to assess its development and determine future funding. Powell will collaborate on disseminating fellowships and considering opportunities available to the consortium.

The consortium is part of the University of the 21st Century Initiative and was one of three projects selected from 15 submissions after a months-long process that included internal and external review.
