Brandeis mourns the loss of alums in 2016

Brandeis School of Law is mourning the loss of some of its alums this year.

On Jan. 4, Michael Joseph "Mike" McDaniel passed away in New Albany, Indiana. He was a criminal defense lawyer who was admitted to the bar in 1968, the same year he graduated from law school. McDaniel was a member of the board of directors with the Indiana Public Defender Council, the Indiana State Bar, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and The American Trial Lawyer Association.

On Jan. 19, Irvin Daniel Foley passed away. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville, receiving his B.S. in Chemistry in 1962, and his J.D. in 1965. He was a member of the Cardinal diving team. After graduation from law school, Foley served as a special agent for the FBI. He was a practicing attorney in Louisville for 47 years and a long-serving board member of the Public Defender Corp.
