The College of Arts and Sciences and the Latin American and Latino Studies Program at the University of Louisville offer an Annual Study Abroad Program in Panama, during the month of May. The program was initiated in May of 2003, by Dr. Rhonda Buchanan, Director of Latin American and Latino Studies, and it is now in its 6th year. The 2008 Director is Berta Calvert, a native of Panamá and a UofL Spanish Lecturer. She will be joined by Communication Professors Dr. Joy Hart (Assistant Program Director) and Dr. Margaret D’Silva. Ricardo Acosta, a Panamanian Professor, will teach the course on Panamanian Culture.
