II. LALS HERITAGE LECTURE: Wednesday, October 2, 2013
Please plan to attend our Annual LALS Heritage Lecture, the most important event of the year for the LALS Program. Please show you support and bring a friend!
Wednesday, October 2, 2013: The 12th Annual LALS Heritage Lecture, “Reforming Immigration, Re-Forming Place and Race: Latin America, the American South, New Connections,” by Dr. Jamie Winders, Associate Professor of Geography in the Maxwell School at Syracuse University; 4:30-5:30pm in Elaine Chao Auditorium of Ekstrom Library. Co-Sponsors: The Department of Geography and Geosciences; The Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research; The Peace, Justice & Conflict Transformation Program; and The Latin American and Latino Studies Program.

Thursday, October 3, 2013: Geography Club Meeting Presentation by Dr. Jamie Winders; 12:15pm in Lutz Hall, Room 225. There will be free food. LALS Club will co-sponsor.
III. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2013: LALS COLLABORATES WITH THE DOWNTOWN DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION ON SOUTH FOURTH STREET FROM 5:00-9:00PM. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
This year the LALS Program and LALS Club will assist with the South Fourth Street Day of the Dead Celebration between the Brown and the Seelbach Hotels. We will be erecting an altar on Thursday, October 24th and providing volunteers for children’s activities the evening of the event, First Friday Trolley Hop Night, Friday, November 1st from 5:00-9:00pm. Please attend the Altar Workshop on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 2:30-4:00 in Stevenson 307 to help us plan the altar’s layout and make the installation a smooth process.
IV. ANNUAL LATIN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL
