Wednesday, October 7, 2009; The 8th Annual LALS Heritage Lecture “Sociocultural Issues in Intra-Caribbean Migration;” 4:30-5:30pm; Chao Auditorium. Dr. Lancelot Cowie, founding Director of the Center for Latin America and the Caribbean at the University of West Indies, will lecture on Social Justice in the Caribbean. Co-sponsors: LALS, the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research, the Cultural Center, Pan African Studies, and the Sociology Department.

Prior to screening, Mr. Rivera will screen and discuss his documentary, “The Sixth Section”, a film about transnational Mexican immigration from 1:00-2:15 pm in Chao Auditorium. LALS will co-sponsor this celebration in collaboration with the UofL Arts and Culture Partnerships Initiative and the Hite Art Institute. Altars will be erected at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, the Louisville Science Center, Frazier International History Museum, and 21c Hotel Museum.
