The KSCIRC is grateful for the support we receive from the National Institutes Health, including the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the National Center for Research Resources, Kentucky Spinal Cord and Head Injury Research Trust, Norton Healthcare, and the Kentucky Research Challenge Trust Fund. Additional support comes from private foundations including the Alzheimer's Association, the American Syringomyelia Alliance Foundation, the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, the Daniel Heumann Foundation, the Paralysis Project of America, Friends for Michael and Saddle Up.
To achieve our vision, KSCIRC needs additional private support. Please consider making an investment that will enhance the quality of life of individuals with spinal cord injury. Private donations will help KSCIRC and the University of Louisville:
- Attract and retain the best experts in the nation
- Provide seed funding and ‘proof of concept’ for early stage research that may be eligible for NIH funding in the future
- Help expand laboratory facilities and purchase needed equipment
- Train the next generation of researchers through graduate assistantships and fellowships
- Build an endowment that will provide a predictable, perpetual stream of funding that can be directed to the most promising areas of research
- Expand community outreach to individuals with spinal cord injury

The Friends for Michael (FFM) organization again this year
presented Dr. Scott Whittemore, with a check to assist in research efforts
at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center (KSCIRC). To date FFM has given the KSCIRC $79,000. The Center faculty and staff thank the FFM group for their continued support and Coach Crum for his support of FFM.
