Research Description
Neurological diseases including stroke, traumatic injuries, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s pathologies are accompanied by neuronal death in the central nervous system (CNS). The resulting loss of nerve cells is thought to underlie neurological dysfunction occurring in these conditions. Therefore, therapeutic intervention to enhance neuronal survival may prevent development of deleterious neurological symptoms. The research in my laboratory is concentrated on identification of molecules controlling neuronal death and survival.
