Postdoctoral Research Fellow
We are currently seeking three highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join our team at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Research Center and the Department of Neurological Surgery in collaboration with the Neuroscience Collaborative Center at Frazier Rehab Institute. The areas of research focus include animal and human models of sensorimotor control of spinal locomotor circuits, activity-dependent neural plasticity, and recovery of cardiovascular function after spinal cord injury.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, rehabilitation medicine, bioengineering or other related sciences with an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of neural control of locomotion and activity-based rehabilitation in spinal cord injury. The applicant will have opportunities to collaborate and work in the basic and human research core facilities. The Kentucky Spinal Cord Research Center and the Neuroscience Collaborative Research Center have excellent core facilities and a vibrant, interactive and collaborative scientific environment with a strong commitment to translate research findings to the clinic.

Description: A position is available to investigate the mechanisms underlying neuronal death and survival.
Eligibility:
Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Desired backgrounds include neurobiology

Postdoctoral Position in CNS Stem Cell Repair
Postdoctoral Fellow position available examining the role of neural
stem cells to repair the damaged spinal cord. The project involves
genetically modifying various stem cell populations in vitro and then
grafting them into mouse spinal cord injury models. The successful
candidate should have a Ph.D., and/or M.D. Relevant research experience
in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, small animal microsurgery,
histology, and/or microscopy is desirable, but not all are essential. The
KSCIRC is a highly collaborative research center with outstanding core

Postdoctoral Associate in Neurology
Postdoctoral Associate (0-3 yrs experience) position is available in the Department of Neurology, University of Louisville School of Medicine to study the immune and vascular mechanisms of neurodegeneration as well as test novel therapeutic strategies. The candidate must have good interpersonal skills and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary research environment. Extensive experience in molecular and cell biology and immunoassay techniques as well as small animal handling and surgery is preferred.
The postdoctoral associate will perform basic laboratory experiments, manage our transgenic animal colonies, and assist with management of the Neurology tissue biorepository. The individual will be responsible for conducting, analyzing and interpreting results as well as communicating at various levels. They will mentor and train other individuals and students as needed. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent (M.D., D.V.M., etc.) in a relevant field and a strong record of productivity. Position is available immediately.
