Environmental Policies
KEEPS participants’ environmental policies help define their commitment to the energy efficiency program.

Participants in the Kentucky Energy Efficiency Program for Schools (KEEPS) must commit to the pro-active implementation of sound energy management practices. The development of an environmental policy is one measure of a participant’s success in the program.
An environmental policy must become a part of the KEEPS participant’s standard operating procedures, including (but not limited to) organizational management, purchasing standards and day-to-day activities of faculty, staff and students. Commitment from senior administration is essential to the sustainability of the energy efficiency program. Participants must be willing to give their organization’s KEEPS energy team the authority and responsibility to implement the program. Lack of commitment often becomes an obstacle to implementing better energy management practices.
