THE KENTUCKY 25x'25 ACTION PLAN:

CHARTING KENTUCKY’S ENERGY FUTURE

The Kentucky Rural Energy Consortium (KREC) has taken the lead to develop a plan that will help Kentucky use renewable energy and energy efficiency to secure an economically and environmentally sustainable energy future.

The 25x'25 Action Plan: Charting America’s Future is a renewable energy initiative backed by businesses, organizations and individuals united by a common interest in making America’s energy future more secure, affordable and environmentally sustainable. Former Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher was among 23 current and former U.S. governors to support the 25x’25 Action Plan.

25x'25 is a rallying cry for Kentucky to use renewable energy and energy efficiency as a means to get at least 25 percent of our energy from improved technology and renewable resources, such as solar, biomass and biofuels, by the year 2025.

The goals of the 25x'25 Action Plan are to:

• Increase production of renewable energy.
• Deliver renewable energy to markets.
• Expand renewable energy markets.
• Improve energy efficiency and productivity.
• Strengthen conservation of natural resources and the environment.

Through KREC’s 25x'25 efforts, partners will work together to advance renewable energy solutions for Kentucky’s farms, ranches and other working lands. 25x'25 is supported by the Kentucky Governor’s Office of Energy Policy (GOEP), the Kentucky Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy (GOAP) as well as leaders from the agricultural, forestry and renewable energy communities.

KENTUCKY 25x'25 LEGISLATIVE PROSPECTUS

The Kentucky Rural Energy Consortium (KREC) has recently released its 25x’25 Legislative Prospectus. The Prospectus is entitled "Kentucky 25x’25 Roadmap- Charting Kentucky’s Renewable Energy Future."

With the publication of the Legislative Prospectus, the KREC Advisory Board sets out an important part of its strategic vision for the energy future of Kentucky. The full 25x’25 Roadmap report (available soon) will identify targets and opportunities that can significantly accelerate the growth of energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives within the state.

The Prospectus is now available in a downloadable PDF version: KREC 25x’25 Legislative Prospectus, which can be viewed using the free Adobe® Reader® software.
