KIESD, formed by the University of Louisville in 1992, provides the general public and the research community statewide with the tools and the space to work towards a brighter future.  The Mission of the Institute is:

"To provide multidisciplinary research and applied scholarship, teaching and educational outreach, and public service on issues of the environment, its protection, and sustainable development at the local, state, national and international levels."   

This site will provide you access to the most up-to-date articles and research related to Kentucky's most serious environmental issues and what is being done to address them, as well as information about sustainable development.  This site will provide you with an opportunity to get involved in the Institute's exciting work, become more informed and contact staff with questions.
