Strengthening Marital Relationships and Post-Adoption Services Through Community of Care Teams

SUMMARY OF PROJECT

This project will provide a comprehensive mix of post-adoption services to ensure that adoptive families have the best possible opportunity to be successful. These services will be directed at strengthening adoptive couples’ (1) marital relationship, (2) utilization of community resources and social support networks, (3) capacity to promote attachment and family formation, and (4) skills to prevent adoption disruption.

This demonstration project will establish a partnership between the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), and adoption support services throughout Kentucky.

Approximately 810 families will receive education/training during the 5 year grant period, and will include a comprehensive evaluation of adoptive family satisfaction with services, intervention fidelity, martial and familial relationship functioning, and adoption disruption.
