CANCELED: April 9th BSW Prospective Student Information sessions is CANCELED. Please register for the April 23rd session.

Congratulations to one of our junior BSW students, Linea Webb, who is headed to the Gulf-South Summit on Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg from 3/20/12-3/24/12. Linea Webb is part of a team of four UofL student presenters involved in the Bonner Leader Americorps Program through the Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership and Service.

This team of students will be presenting their poster entitled "How Best Can We Serve" wherein they worked to create a local conference to address social justice issues, with a tie-in to this year's Book-in-Common, The Other Wes Moore. The purpose of the conference was to educate UofL students on social justice issues facing our community and encourage volunteerism with non-profit agencies that provide support for those challenged by a variety of social justice concerns.
Wonderful news about one of our shining BSW students. Molly Bush, current BSW (in her junior year) has won the 2011 Mary D. Rudd award for volunteer service. She won the award because of her outstanding initiation of a project at The Center for Women and Families involving a series of workshops with both staff and residents of the center that would engage those interested in hands on experience with learning how to grow their own food and easily turn the harvest into a delicious and nourishing meal.
