KSSAMaking a Difference! There are many reasons why I’m proud to be a Social Worker, and one of the things I’ve learned at Kent School is that whenever there is a societal problem - Social Workers are always a part of the solution! You know the issues: From the state’s budgeting crisis, to the average student working overtime to afford rising tuition costs, to rising unemployment, to daily price hikes in gas and food - everyone is struggling to make ends meet. So, what do Social Workers do in hard times? We make a difference! The Kent School Student Council and the Kent School Alumni Council know the concerns, but we are not just ringing our hands. We invite you to join us in a little friendly competition to make things better, by creating an Emergency Fund for the students of Kent School. Here’s how it works: Each class of Kent – ’08 & ’09 will compete with each other and with the Kent School Faculty and Staff to be the most positive about making a difference. We are not competing about which of the three groups can raise the most money, that’s too easy – we will compete to see which group can have the highest percentage of contributors. Things happen. Car breakdowns, unexpected and outstanding bills, family emergencies: any of these things can knock students off track to a successful career at Kent School. The Emergency Fund will help students overcome these unforeseen circumstances, by loaning them the funds necessary to effectively take care of these emergencies. Will you prove that the Faculty & Staff of Kent School are the most optimistic about the future by helping out the students in need? There is no minimal donation amount. As an individual, you could give fifty cents, fifty dollars or five hundred dollars. We just want as many people as possible to own a piece of this helping effort. As a matter of fact, our goal is that all students, faculty, and administrators participate. Imagine. While giving just a few cents or a dollar to the Fund does not sound like much, consider this. If 300 people gave an average of $10 each, that is $3,000 that could go toward student emergencies! Better yet, since students will be expected to eventually pay back their loans, the Emergency Fund has the potential to vastly grow as a result of more gifts in the coming years. Let’s help each other out! Chad R. Connor Click Here to Donate Now!
