Donate to the Kent School Student Emergency Fund

Students in the Kent School of Social Work sometimes experience an unforeseen financial crisis. A student may need funds to repair an automobile, to pay medical expenses, to pay a utility bill or any number of other immediate costs that could force a withdrawal or cause a hardship to continue in school. The Kent Student Emergency Fund (KSEF) consists of monies donated by students, faculty and alumni to be utilized for that purpose. Whenever possible, students who receive this financial assistance will repay these funds in order that funds are continuously available to assist students in need.

If you would like to make donations to the emergency fund, please write a check made payable to KSSA and mail it to Oppenheimer Hall, Room 107, c/o KSSA, Kent School of Social Work, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY 40208.

KSSA Peer Mentoring Program

The mission of the Kent School Student Association Peer Mentor Program is to promote success by providing support, guidance, and by being positive role models for new students.

To provide leadership development opportunities and transferable skills to high achieving, upper-division students serving as student mentors.

We need Peer Mentors. What do you gain as a peer mentor?

  • The satisfaction of passing along a legacy of knowledge, insight and experience.
  • Enhancing one’s own leadership skills.
  • The opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
  • Improved understanding of how others view the world.

The Kent School Peer Mentor Student Program assists students in making a successful academic and social transition to the University of Louisville. The Program also help students navigate the university and provides information about resources, services and opportunities that UofL and the Kent School offer. The Program mentors have “been there, done that” and are available to assist from registration through graduation.

The Peer Mentoring Program pairs a current student with a new or returning student for the purpose of providing one-on-one assistance during their transition to the academic environment. Peer mentors draw from their own experience to offer encouragement and support to their mentees and provide a connection to our university. Mentors offer insight, knowledge, perspective and encouragement.
