Self-Mastery/Emotional Regulation is a treatment model that places focus on the importance and power of recognizing emotions as necessary for healing pain that underlies negative emotions. The 12 module program can be taught to children as well as adults, and individually or in a group setting.

Self-Mastery includes the following skills that can be developed throughout life:

  • Self-awareness to increase and improve the ability to regulate emotion
  • Self-confrontation and acceptance of personal responsibility for thoughts, feelings, and behavior
  • A strong sense of self, which is not dependent on the approval of others or controlled by external events and,
  • The ability to tolerate pain and distress by soothing and comforting oneself.
  • Addresses treatment issues of emotional regulation and promotes emotional intelligence and self-empowerment
  • Useful in assisting people experiencing a variety of problems in their lives including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and other compulsive behaviors, and relationship difficulties
  • STOP technique that is taught assists people to honor and heal their pain
  • Proposes that good information provided in an atmosphere of acceptance, respect and caring will be positively utilized by clients.
