This workshop is a basic introduction to Play Therapy as an effective and developmentally appropriate treatment modality for work with children and families that can be utilized in a variety of settings. Attendees are given opportunities to participate in clinical activities throughout the workshop that can address a variety of common behavioral and mental health disorders encountered in clinical and community-based settings.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will….”

-Identify important Qualities of the Play Therapist

-Be able to properly identify clients that are Appropriate for Play Therapy

-Identify appropriate toys and room set up that is most conducive for a play therapy setting.

-Be able to distinguish between Directive & Non-Directive Play Therapy

-Have a basic understanding of the history, theories and principles of Play Therapy

-Be able to comfortably and ethically provide therapeutic play sessions in a variety of practice locations.
