Couple and Family Therapy Specialization Curriculum Plans

Curriculum Plan O: Two-year Full-Time MSSW-CFT Weekday Plan (Summer Start Date)

This plan is only available to students who have been interviewed and accepted into the MSSW-CFT Specialization. Please note: This plan begins in the Summer semester. Courses that are underlined are CFT Specialization courses. All courses are three credit hours unless otherwise noted in parentheses.

The 2-year program option is for students who are able to carry a rigorous academic course load and are able to make financial arrangements that will allow them to focus on their academic obligations without working more than very part-time.

When applying to the MSSW-CFT Specialization two year plan (plan O), students should apply to the Kent School for admission to the MSSW program and to the CFT Specialization simultaneously.

If applying to the MSSW three year plan, students may apply for the CFT Specialization simultaneously with the MSSW program or they may wait until January of their first year to apply to the specialization.

The CFT coursework requires two calendar years to complete.

This plan is only available to students who have been interviewed and accepted into the MSSW-CFT Specialization. Courses that are underlined are CFT Specialization courses. All courses are three credit hours unless otherwise noted in parentheses.

The 3-year program allows a student to complete some of their foundational SW courses and continue to work before beginning their family therapy coursework.  However, the course load becomes increased each year and in the second and third year it would be very difficult to maintain anything more than part-time work.
