Larry Chandler began his career with the Department of Corrections in March, 1982, as a Correctional Officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory. He served in various capacities at the Reformatory, and progressed through the ranks to Administrative Captain. His other responsibilities included Assessment Center Lieutenant, Internal Affairs Lieutenant, E-Squad Commander, and Shift Captain. In March, 1991, Chandler was promoted to the position of Deputy Warden II at Bell County Forestry Camp. In June, 1994, he was transferred and promoted to the position of Deputy Warden III at Green River Correctional Complex, and assisted in the opening of that facility. In July, 1996, he was promoted to the position of Warden at Green River. In March, 1999, he was appointed as Warden of the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex, and in November, 2003, Chandler was appointed as Warden of the Kentucky State Reformatory.
Chandler has a Masters Degree in Justice Administration from University of Louisville and Management from Brescia University. He received his Bachelor's in Correction Administration from the University of Louisville. He is also a member of several professional organizations in the criminal justice arena and has been Certified as a Correctional Executive by the American Correction Association. Chandler is a member of Southeast Christian Church.
