Dept. of Justice Administration

The Department of Justice Administration, located within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville, is recognized as a nationally prominent academic department that provides quality educational programs. These educational programs include undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and educational programs and seminar offered by the Southern Police Institute and the National Crime Prevention Institute. The department has a strong commitment to the practice of justice administration through the activities of a nationally recognized faculty and professional staff who engage in education, research and practice. The faculty maintain a rigorous program of research and contributions to the practice of justice administration which enhances their ability to bring real-world examples and experiences into the classroom and enriches the educational experience of students.

The Mission of the Department of Justice Administration is to:

  • Provide education and professional training for individuals seeking employment and career development within criminal justice organizations.

  • Conduct and disseminate research that achieves an integration of theory and practice with an emphasis on applied methods and issues.

  • Maintain strong partnerships with agencies and organizations in the community and share of educational resources and expertise as a means of generating "best practice" within criminal justice system processes.
