CJ & Theater Arts Department share NIJ Grant

Bradley Campbell jpegjpeg of Rachel CarterLast week, Criminal Justice's Dr Brad Campbell and Theater Arts Rachel Carter, MFA were notified by National Institute of Justice that the grant they applied for was funded for $335,131.  The project will employ a Randomized Controlled Trial to assess the impact of Kentucky DOCJT training on sexual assault investigators’ performance in simulated interviews with standardized patient actors.  Training will focus on Forensic Experiential Trauma Interviewing (FETI) techniques, with the goal of training officers to interview victims in a trauma-informed and victim-centered manner.  The project will fund a Theater Arts and Criminal Justice graduate student, as well as a KY DOCJT instructor for two years.  Five Theater Arts students will perform as actors in the simulated interviews.  We are very proud of and excited about this interdisciplinary collaboration. Well Done!
