jpeg of Jared DeFlippo and Ed Pocock Jared DeFlippo, a freshman from Middlefield, Connecticut, has been named as the first recipient of the J. Allen Lamb & Edward S. Pocock III Foundation Criminal Justice Scholar for the 2016-17 academic year.   Jared was selected through a competitive process coordinated by the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences for applicants seeking acceptance to the College and majoring in Criminal Justice.  Since exposure to criminal justice professionals is considered an integral part of the Scholars Program, Jared will participate in up to 10 hours per week of directed volunteer activity at the Southern Police Institute.

Lamb/Pocock Foundation Director, Edward S. Pocock III, was on campus in August to speak at the Southern Police Institute and to personally meet the first Criminal Justice Scholar.  He noted, “Jared is a clear standout among his peers and his energy is contagious.   We are honored to be part of this young man’s bright future.”
