Creating a Course

Requesting a iTunes U Activation

iTunes U is not automatically available for every course—you must request to have an iTunes U course set up for every class and every semester you want to use this system.  Each course set up on iTunes U can be connected to only one Blackboard course shell.

If you are not faculty and want to create a public iTunes U course for your department, contact the Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning and request the creation of a Blackboard organization shell.  Once that has been created, you can proceed with the following instructions.

(Thanks to Vanderbilt University for creating and distributing the iTunes U building block.)

  1. 1. In Blackboard, go to the course Control Panel.

  2. 2. Click on iTunes U, found under Course Tools

  3. 3. Click Submit to submit a request.

You will have now have wait to upload content until your iTunes U Administrator sets up your course.  If you need immediate assistance or have not gotten a response within 48 hours, contact Ron Schildknecht.

Creating a link to iTunes U

Once your course has been set up, you will receive an email confirmation.  You will now need to create a link within your Blackboard course to take you and your students to iTunes U.

  1. 1. Click the Edit View link within a course content area, such as Course Documents

  2. 2. Select iTunes U Link from the pull-down menu

  3. 3. Click GO

  4. 4. Enter link properties for Name and Instructions.

  5. 5. Click Submit

  6. 6. Click OK.

  7. 7. Click iTunes U link to launch iTunes, and go directly to your course in iTunes U.

Congratulations, you now have an iTunes U course!  Now what?
