Where does my student start?
ULink is a secure web-based portal which serves as a gateway to university academic, financial, and service information.
Where can they get technology help?
IT operates a HelpDesk seven days a week to assist students with technology issues. Contact the HelpDesk by phone at 852-7997, email (helpdesk@louisville.edu) or online through the ULink portal.
Does my student have a University email account?
An email account is automatically created when students are admitted. Students, faculty and staff all use the GroupWise email system. Students access GroupWise through ULink.
What about junk mail?
IT offers a unique spam filtering solution that allows students to quarantine suspect mail outside of UofL systems, preventing overload of their individual email boxes. With the spam filtering solution, they will be able to view, salvage, delete and report mail as false positive.
How do they keep their computer safe from viruses?
The university encourages everyone to keep their computer secure and free from viruses and spyware. UofL requires the use of anti-virus software on all network-attached systems (including wireless), and provides a free download of Anti-Virus software through iTech Xpress.
Does IT have computer centers?
Student computing centers are the perfect way to gain access to services such as web, printing, ULink, etc. when students do not have access to their own PC. Centers are located in Miller Information Technology Center and HSC K-Wing.
How does my student get wireless on campus?
For the mobile student, IT offers wireless connectivity in many classrooms and most public areas on all three UofL campuses. Getting connected with wireless is as easy as completing a few simple steps. To see a listing of required software and hardware click on the ‘Technology Resources’ link in ULink.
What if my student resides in a dorm room?
IT provides network and telephone services for resident students. Every resident hall is equipped with the latest in phone technology providing local calling and enhanced 911 services which allows the university’s Department of Public Safety to pinpoint the exact location of a call in the event of an emergency. Students are provided with one telephone outlet per room as well as a telephone.
Can IT give me my student’s password?
No. Information Technology will not disclose student passwords to any third parties, including parents.
Where can my student buy a computer, computer supplies or software?
