How do I add someone to my list?

Unless your list is "Closed", if possible, never add someone to your list because it is too easy to mis-type an address.

The best advice is to tell the person to send listserv@listserv.louisville.edu the command:

sub name-of-your-list first-name last-name

This way LISTSERV will get their correct email address from the header of their email message.

However, if you must add someone to you list the command is:

add name-of-your-list email-address first-name last-name

2. When you get the list header back in your email forward it back to listserv@listserv.louisville.edu and while in the editor:

1. Remove all the lines above the line PUT name-of-your-list LIST PW=XXXXXXXX
2. Change the XXXXXXXX in that line to whatever your personal LISTSERV password is (see How do I get a personal LISTSERV password?)
3. Change whatever header fields you want to change
4. Send the mail and wait for the "success" mail message back from LISTSERV

How do I add a Welcome message to my list?

Before you can add a listname.welcome file (or any other file) you need to send email to UnixIT so they can create the necessary listname.catalog file and add it to the site.catalog file.

Remember to put the real name of your list everywhere in the below steps where I have the word 'listname'.

Once that is ready you can:
