Preferred Email Addresses
The Preferred Email Address (PEA) process is intended to make email addressing simple and flexible. Once someone has a nickname established on the Email Router, all email sent to that person at userid@louisville.edu or to that person's nickname@louisville.edu will be routed to the person's preferred email system. Mail sent out will also appear to have been sent from the nickname@louisville.edu. This scheme allows faculty, staff and students to keep a consistent, simple email address regardless of changes to the underlying email systems. For more information on the system, please see the Technical Overview .
Set Your Preferred Email Address (PEA)
You can change you Preferred Email Address (PEA) through ULink. The link to change your PEA is called "Email Addresses" and it is located under the Information Technology panel.
Policies and guidelines for the email router nicknames and Preferred Email Addresses(PEA) will include:
- Each user may select one nickname in addition to his/her standard userid.
- Nicknames must be based on both the user's first and last names. (First.Last)
- Nicknames which have already been chosen by someone else will be rejected.
- The PEA must refer to an IT-managed mail server (such as ATHENA or GWISE).
