Odyssey to use other than UofL wireless

Setting up Odyssey to use other than UofL wireless

 

First we will go over setting up Home Wireless (start at step 1).
See Step 8 for instructions on using broadcast non-encrypted wireless
(Usually found in hotels, airports, etc.)

Home Wireless Setup
1. Open Odyssey Access Client.
2. Click on the Configuration entry. The Configuration submenu shows.

3. Click on the Networks entry. The list of configured networks shows
on the right side of the window.

4. Select the Common Home Access entry and click on the Properties button.

5. The Network Properties window appears.
Enter the following info:
Network name( SSID): - your home wireless SSID
Description: - give a description of your home wireless( i.e. home wireless )
Network type: leave this entry at Access point
Association mode: this entry depends on how your home wireless is setup
Options are Open, Shared, WPA, WPA2
Encryption method: this also depends on how your home wireless is setup
Options are Open None or WEP
Shared WEP
WPA TKIP
WPA2 AES
Note: if the wireless SSID is not broadcast then make sure
the Non-broadcast checkbox is checked

pre-configured/Pre-shared keys:
Select the format of the keys( ASCII characters or hexadecimal digits )
Enter the Key or passphrase
Click on the OK button. example of WPA2 Non-Broadcast setup

6. The Network window appears with you changes.

7. Your can now use this network by clicking on the WiFi entry and selecting your Home Wireless entry from the dropdown box.
Odyssey will try to search for this wireless access immediately and try to connect.

8. Open Odyssey Access Client.
9. Click on the WiFi entry.

10. At the Network: dropdown box on the right side of the window, select
the Any Broadcast Network <[any]> entry.
The following window shows and Odyssey will try to connect.
If Odyssey cannot connect, the wireless may not be Broadcast.

Your Broadcast Non-Encrypted Wireless is setup.

Add Networks to a Auto-Scan List
This option is used when a laptop may be used at more then 1 wireless network
and you do not want to keep selecting 1 network at a time.
A Auto-Scan list can search a list of wireless networks and will connect based on
the order you have put them in the list.
11. Open Odyssey Access Client.
12. Click on the Configuration entry. The Configuration submenu shows.

13. Click on the Auto-Scan Lists entry. Select the Auto- Scan List and click on the Properties button.
Example shown is the Common Home Auto-Scan list.

14. The wireless networks that are defined appear in the list.
Select an entry from the Available networks: list on the left.
Then click on the >> button to add it to the list on the right. Use the up or
down double arrows to move the entry around in the list. This is to create a
desired wireless network search order. When all available wireless network you
want to add to the search list have been made, then click on the OK button.
Example shown is the Common Home Auto-Scan list.

15. To tell the Odyssey Access Client to use a Auto-Scan list, Open Odyssey
Select the WiFi entry

16. At the Network: dropdown box on the right side of the window, select
the Common Home entry. Odyssey will try to connect to an entry from this Auto-Scan List
starting with the first entry in the Auto-Scan list.
If no entries from the Auto-Scan list are available then Odyssey will show the Status message of
Searching for access point

17. Hold for more document steps
